I'm on a verge of buying my first Colnago. Curently I'm riding Trek 3.5 size 56cm with effective TT 56cm (c59 has 56.5cm TT but is different geo).
My friend told me that 58 in Colnago is and equivalent of size 56 on most frames (Canyon, Trek, Giant).

No no ! go with 52. Colnago has 2 sizes smaller compared to most other frame manufacturer. I ride an M10 52s and I am 182 cm.

Asking about traditional version. I know slopping is the other way around.
I'm 180-182cm tall (depends how I stand, hehe) and I've always ridden 56cm frames but dunno how this compares to c59t sizing.

That's weird on traditional geo version in size 58 the top tube is 565mm. I'm still confused here as people suggest to go for 52 traditional with its 520mm eTT lenght...

I think a few people are getting confused! A 52t will not be big enough for someone 180cm+
52t is more suitable for people 170cm ish

52s is equivalent to 56t, so a nearer size to what might be suitable

Depending on your reach, will determine which size will suit you best

If you send us an e-mail, we have an official Colnago sizing proforma that we can send back to you for completion - it will give us the various measurements of you, that we can use to discuss with their tech dept in order to properly determine what size would suit you best

Just to muddy the waters. I'm 182cm with a 33" cycling inseam and I ride a 54s Colnago EPS. The headtube on the 52s is to short for me.

I'd be close to your height...and my EP 57 trad is perfect with a 557mm TT. C59 is a bit different, but it does depend on a few factors. Like riding style/flexibility, reach, etc. You may want to go a tad smaller on the ETT cf. Trek. I don't have the chart for C59 but the 565 TT for a 58 trad sounds exact...it still might be OK for you, but you may be a little "set back" on the ST and the stem length may need to be shortened a bit. Colnago wants to even out the rider's balance and allow for longer stem usage, thus the smaller frame sizing. But you would certainly be a candidate for a 57 trad. Probably wouldn't go sloping in a C59. A 56 trad might be just a bit "tight" in the cockpit depending on your physiology, but you could still make it work with perhaps an even longer stem.

I ride a Colnago EPS in 54s, which translates to a Colnago 58 traditional. I've had multiple BMCs, Cervelos, Pinarellos, and Specialized bikes all with roughly 560 (+/-5) top tube lengths. I can make a Colnago 52s or 57 traditional fit as well depending on stem length and how aggressive of a position I want. It's the same principle behind my previously owned Pinarello Princes, which were a 55 and 56 frame size. I got to the same position with a different stem length. However, changing the stem length did change how the bike handled to some extent. My height is 182cm.
