I've done a forum search and googled around a bit and can't seem to find anything on people tuning their 2012 red shifters. Has anyone done so, and with what sort of success rate? I have a pair on order, and at the very least was planning on sanding them down to bare carbon and possibly drilling them out a bit.

The internals have not changed much (only difference being the ratchet mechanism on the front-shifter side) and other than body shape, the elements are all the same. Previous attempts to SRAM shift-lever tuning would still apply.
