All-Carbon Cannondale System Six?
Moderator: robbosmans
This guy on eBay has a 52cm System Six for sale. He claims the entire bike is full carbon. Did Cannondale ever make one in all-carbon....even by "mistake?" I call bullshit:

No. All System Six's were carbon front have alloy rear.
- Zipp rims will break if you look at them too hard
- R-Sys wheels will spontaneously explode
- The ZG crankset will never, ever exist
- Everyone needs Lightweights, even if they're fat and old
- Parts actually made of metal are SO 10 years ago

That looks like master324's old System.
The System Six is carbon/alu. That was the idea behind the frame.

Here was the eBay Q/A discussion:
Dear jonathantong1994,
How did you make this carbon/aluminum frame all carbon? Is it really stiffer than Tarmac SL3 or Cervelo R3?
His response:
Dear zuffenhausen951,
This frame was always carbon, there is no aluminum in this frame other than the headset possibly. The only thing we did to this frame is sand down the original paint job and have it coated with matte black finish. Through personal experience I can say it is much more stiffer than the Tarmac, and the R3. I've owned the Tarmac and SystemSix at the same time and I feel pedal strokes much more when I am on the SystemSix.

but the review he links to says the bike has an aluminum rear triangle.....
I don't think the seller really knows himself. He is obviously trying to get top-dollar for that bike....

It has an aluminum rear end. It's carbon from the middle of the top tube and the middle of the down tube forward. Everything else is basically a CAAD9. Benefit of the doubt, it's painted all black and he just doesn't know. I personally would have a tough time buying from a seller who doesn't know what he's selling. Worst case he knows and is hoping you're an idiot and will believe him.
Cannondale never made any full carbon system six bikes. Never.

That's definitely master's old system. The guy master sold it to definitely doesn't have a clue what he has.

Exactly....

His listing has been changed to say the rear triangles are alloy, as you say he didn't know what he was selling. Ignorant seller imo.
The seller just thanked me for correcting him. If Cannondale even made an "experimental" full-carbon System Six...I would love to own it.

Oh wow, I am following this frame b/c i want a 52 System Six. I emailed him and asked him when it was painted and he said 2 or 3 years ago. I asked because these frames tend to corrode where the carbon meets the aluminum.
They are such great bikes. After all these years I still want one again.
