Whats your favorite bike wheel skewer?

Have HED wheel set with skewers which I'm using with new to me Reynold's MV32 tubular wheel set. LBS is recommending Dura Ace skewers which I'm told are stronger and stiffer and will give noticeably better ride but seem to heavier. About $150 too. What are your favorite skewers for ride quality and weight savings?

Serious question: do QR's have any bearing (no pun intended) on ride quality?!

Skewers being stiffer and effecting ride quality? BS.
A skewer is but an means to anchor your wheel to your frame. Its a solid connection. It does not "flex" in a way that would cause energy loss unless your wheel slipping in the dropouts. Tighten it. You now have a high performance skewer.
Quick Release skewer qualities can be separated to 3 categories:
-structure (durabilty/strength)
-design (ease of use/mechanical advantage)
-vanity (weight/good looks)
I have 2 favorite sets-
eBay KCNC clones- cheap, super light, work OK, not the most comfortable to tighten, not the strongest clampers- but they work
Campagnolo Record 9 Speed- solid, drop dead gorgeous, very comfortable to use.

They hold the wheels but some of them to that a whole lot better than others. I am personally done with all the lightweight skewers. Campy skewers are on all my bikes. Yes they are heavier (120g vs 40g) but they give a much more solid connection and stay in place. Dura Ace are also excellent.

+1. KCNC are fine, but you need to do up the rear one really tight to avoid the wheel pulling out / squeaking. Then it's wise to lubricate the bushing so that you can open it again.
Dura Ace may be heavier but they are aesthetically and functionally better. They require less force for a given tightness, fit your hand nicely and require no maintenance. Similarly the older Campag skewers. I don't like the look of the new double sided campag levers, but functionally I'm sure they're fine.

I love the look of the Tune DC 14, however it kind of hurts my hand when clamping down. Another +1 for the KCNCs though. They are pretty light and they have a decent clamp force.

I have a pair of ti KCNCs and they have been faultless. Never opened or loosened, quiet.
I have picked up a pair of extralite streeters for my new build as they are 29g (on my scale) with a Ti axle rather than aluminium.

While I love my M2Racer skewers I do feel the difference between them and say standard Campa QRs. The latter give a much secure feel to the bike.

I understand that some skewers can generate a peak force higher than others but do you need to generate 8000N of force to keep your wheel in oif those numbers are correct.
If someone asked you whether they could laterally load your hub with 800kg of weight you would tell them to get bent. I would be surprised if the bearings are turning over smoothly at that force, let alone the hubshell staying straight.
