I personaly would go for a pair of gigantex carbon rims, ed hubs and cx-ray spokes. Way cheaper and trusted. But yes, worse warranty service and aerodynamics.

I'm still loving my Assaults and have no regrets on buying them... Above about 18-20mph the difference is very noticeable! They simply carry speed better. They also take a lot of the tiny road "chatter" away despite being stiffer feeling. The braking is great as well! I haven't taken them on any 20 minute long descents, but have put some longer high speed decelerations on them and they silent and very predictable. For anyone hesitant to purchase them as they're unsure if they're an "upgrade" over something you may already have, go for it if you can find a deal on them, and can afford it!

Surprised no one has put a vote in for Hed jet 4's. They are an awesome wheel set, 22 mm wide rim , much better in cross winds than my Cosmic carbone slr exalith, & comparable to my Enve 6.7 (only when paired with a Jet 9 rear)
Narrow 50 mm rims are such as the cosmics are much more unstable in cross winds

Enve braking sucks compared to Zipp braking. Just the way it is. My vote would have been for the 303's but you can do better then $1700, even new if you look around.

I put 7000 miles on a pair of Reynolds Assults and had zero problems. They are a great all around wheel. I bought a set of Enve 3.4s with King hubs and they are night and day difference! The Enve wheels are so much more smooth, stiff and quiet compared to the Reynolds. I would save up for a good high dollar set of wheels with King or DT Swiss hubs. You will be happy in the long run.

how do we know those big brand carbon wheels are not rebranded cheap Chinese wheels. I mean do they actually manufacture the carbon rim themselves? Or they simply source the rims from china and build it in US and claim its Made in USA and charge a extra $1000

The Enve's are made in Utah, it is well documented. Everything is over priced! I got lucky and got a pro deal on mine. My advice is ride cheap wheels then ride "Big Brand" wheels and see for yourself. In addition, my front Enve wheel had a pulse under braking right out of the box... less than a week later I had a brand new wheel. Try that with Zipp, Reynolds or anybody else.

You'd have a new wheel from zipp in a couple of days. Reynolds would probably not even answer the phone and you'd just get mad and sell them on eBay.

2nd that. Zipp & Enve are terrific when it comes to after the sale service. That is effectively what you are paying for in addition to the upwards price on their products.
