Had a pair of xpresso's for 2 weeks (1000k's). Destroyed the right pedal today unclipping, ripped the back of the pedal clean off. Looking at the design a bit closer there is not alot of material around the pivot where it cracked unlike the Iclic 2's. Not a great start. Disclosure: I had a pair of Iclic's (first gen) crack but not break in a similar manner.

That doesn't sound very promising.

But at least you're alright.

It was just as I got home this morning so no real drama but my mouth did drop open as I don't think I have ever had anything break in only two weeks before. :unbelievable:

It should never happen. Its a major safety issue if it should break like that ! :noidea:

My Time iClics (original model) also broke at the hinge - after only 850km. The "plastic around metal" design of the hinge was absolutely ridiculous. While I was impressed the the idea and design of the iClic, the execution and fabrication of the pedal was very poor and cheap. Sadly for Time, I will not waste my money or safety on their pedals ever again.

Hmmm, was also contemplating the Xpresso 12s, but will wait a while to see what other beta testers will report ;-)

Maybe it's time for Time to release RXS Ulteam Classic (or RXS Carbon Ti Classic), sort of like Coke did with Coca Cola Classic after New Coke fizzled. Maybe some parts of the pedal and cleat are better off remaining metal.

You really have to wonder how one of the greatest and most influential designers of cycling pedals in the last few decades has completely dropped the ball.

Maybe they are making too much money from their framesets to care?
