when my lbs helped me install the shifter cables, they didn't install any inline barrel adjusters for the FD. now i'm thinking to add one into my Scott Addict R1.

can i still install one, like pretty easy to do?

Why do you need one? FD rarely goes out and if it does undo the pich bolt and pull the cable taught and re tighten.

the reason is because i'm changing from 53/39 to 50/34, so will be moving the FD down lower

Should be pretty straightforward -- would also look "balanced" if you have one on the other side of the down tube for the RD.

yes you could add it but then you'd have to drill out your stem's faceplate bolts to counter the weight gain.

Oh you still use those nasty things? I usually just omit the stem entirely and just expoy the handlebars right onto the steerer tube :)

Very simple; you just have to pull the cable out, make a cut in the housing (maybe cut off a small amount to account for the added length of the adjuster), stick the barrel adjuster on, re-insert the cable, and you're done.
