Wouldn't it blind driver and thus raise the chances of him hitting me?

Not quite that explosive bright, but really so shimmer even under moderate daylight. PS you need to keep them clean, seen a local guy commuting in one and the road spray filth build up does reduce the reflectivity at night. (I've seen it looking grubby when we go the other way in daylight!)
Its basically as bright as the reflective strips on road maintenance jackets/trousers but a whole jacket made of that material.

I don't think it raises the chance to be hit...

I can say that I get more room from cars while wearing it...

As a safety conscious rider I find those reflective jackets interesting. But there is also the opinion that brighter is not always better, because it can lead to "target fixation" ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Target_fixation ).

I've seen the white reflective jackets out in the wild. It looks weird, like a floating ghost. I'm not convinced it's better than refelective stripes on the back.

The only thing close to this level is Nike jacket costing almost 3 times the price...

Reflection aside, this is top quality kit with a lot of features... If it were Rapha or Assos or Giordana or ... It would be the better part of double.
