Anyone tried these? Where can you get them, and how costly are they? Weight?

Alex discontinued them because Mavic was going to sue them for the machined out center sections on the rim.

What's a good lightweight mid V clincher to check out, if the Alex isn't going to be around?

If you want to avoid the Mavic options, you should check out the Ambrosio models. The Ambrosio Focus FCS28 is still around and can be found online for about $60 per rim. The tubuar version from Ambrosio is called the Thesis and is a little bit cheaper.

Alex makes a 28mm rim called the crostini R1.1 that is very nice, the weight is 475g. There is also the 450g 30mm niobium rim that is sold under quite a few names, IRD, speedcific, KinLin etc.
