I just got the Dura Ace 9000 C24 wheels. I recall reading here that youre not suppose to use latex tubes in wheels such as these.
Is this true or did I kick back too many beers when I read that?

I ride latex with my RS80 C24's with no issues. Think you kicked back too many

What you heard was probably in reference to full carbon clinchers.

Cool, thanks.
I do use them on carbon clinchers...just not in the summer on steep descents.

I use latex tubes in full carbon clinchers on flat (or slight rolling hills) rides without issue. If I had used them today (27 degrees C and 15% descents with a couple of nasty hairpins) I'd probably have had to have walked home (if indeed, I was still able to walk!).....latex and serious heat build up are a bad combo....other than that....just use your brains ;)

Why? Will it melt? I use Mavic R-Sys 2013 and had to break hart from 80 km/h to 15 km/h. Rims were pretty hot, but no problems so far. Used the latex innertubes the past 4 year w no flats or blows......

Perhaps TS is thinking of Shimano's recomendation not to use Liquid Latex as a sealant with their tubeless rims.

Hi,

It says latex tubes in both the header and post.

Heat can burn a hole in the inner tube. Not something you look forward to during high speed descents...

Ciao, ;)

Zipps dont like hot days, steep descents and a fist full of brakes. I've had 3 blow outs and brown shorts aren't cool!
Thanks for the replies on the C24s.
