Edge/Enve 1.45 clinchers delaminated
Moderator: robbosmans
Hi,
I delaminated my Edge 1.45 clinchers descending down a 12% average mountain on a 35 degree day.
The wheels are just under 3 years old, I've contacted the shop i purchased the rims from and he requested pictures to send to Enve for a warranty claim.
Has anyone had the same issue with these rims?
If so, what was the outcome from Enve and how long did the replacement take?
I've got an important ride at the end of January and I don't want to be without wheels.
Should I start looking at an alternative wheelset?
Any info would be great.

Send some pictures over to Enve and see what they say. The customer service over there is second-to-none so I'm sure they will do their best to rectify this situation. Keep in mind they are out for the holidays and I don't believe they will be back in until the New Year.
Except that not all carbon clinchers are the same...
I like the ENVE hoops I have now and the latest editions are handling heat better than 3 years ago for sure...
That said, Zipps firecrest are outperforming everything else in carbon clinchers as related to heat / delam.
They've not had a warranty related to heat with the latest edition firecrest and seem to be the answer to what carb clinchers actually work well.

As Charles said, the Enves now are in a totally different realm than the older Edge and even early Enve stuff. They are far less prone to overheating, and the braking is extremely consistent even on long descents.

Plenty of great threads for new wheel recommendations, including some in the locked thread.
