Who sells those silicone rings? Looks very clean.

My Parlee had been built on Hors Catagorie in Marin. They super glued the tape at the end. Cleanest look I've ever seen.

i have found the "third way" demonstrated in the Park Tool video linked below to be much better than the alternatives.

I've learned some very valuable tips like the super glue and restarting after the plug goes in, but what was the wrapping experts consensus? Wrapping outward or inward :noidea:

What is WW's view on reverse wrap - starting at the bar tops?

By all means give it a go but have some spare bar tape to wrap it the correct way from the bottom up after the first ride causes it to peel back at the edges. And I can't imagine how you'll finish it down at the plug end without it wanting to unravel.

Start wrapping the tape (about 3 full turns).

Insert the end plug.

Now unwrap the tape back to the plug and pull it tight where the seam enters the plug. Then you'll get a really neat end.

Continue to wrap the bars as normal.

This is an excellent tip thank you it's the only area I've ever had issues with when wrapping bar tape I'll give that a go on a retro rebuild I'm in the middle of.

I too favour the "third way" as demonstrated in the ParkTool video (which I consider the best how-to video on wrapping your bars).

Finished the last built with hemp twine (Nitto Noodle bar with leather tape):

I thinkj this depends on which handlebar and type of bar wrap. I have Eve road bars and use Origin8 perforated leather bar wrap which has an adhesive strip and have always wrapped from the stem down to the bar end with no issues.

Hi

When you wrap "stem down", what protects the part of the end that sticks out from under the first rotation of tape?

Or do you do a full rotation before you start to angle down the bar? If so, won't there be a thicker, "lump" at the stem end?

I make an angled cut at the end of the wrap and start the wrap from the underside, keeping the tape stretched, there is no noticeable 'bump'.
