Hi guys, could you please tell me if this is an original Pinarello Dogma frameset or a fake one from China?
Thanks.

It looks very much like a Dogma2. From what I remember a lot of forgeries weren't particularly detail oriented back then, using things like round seatposts to keep the costs down even though it was glaringly obvious.

Thanks. This means the bike I posted looks to be an original Pinarello?

Probably? It looks more sophisticated than I remember the copies of that era to be. Seeing it in person would help - for instance I don't think any of the forgers ever bothered using Italian thread BBs, or the assymetric features. Also I'd imagine that Pinarello can confirm serial numbers if asked, it's in their interest to uncover fakes.

Thanks.

Would love to see it in person but it is located around 600 km away.
The seller states that it's original and that it has a serail number on the underside.
I asked him to send it to me so I can check if it's real.
Payment possible with Paypal.

Another thing that is corious to me is why he needs to respond in every 5 to 6 days?? :noidea:

1st obligatory question I would do is "is the bottom bracket ITA or ENG?" as fake ones were always made with ENG bb.
Second one would be if they have any proof of purchase or warranty book, just in case.
Im a little far away otherwise I could have gone to have a look on your behalf.

need serial number and have pinarello confirm. from the photos appears real with the raised sticker on the bottom bracket.

responding every 5 to 6 days is a red flag. would not deal with that person. photos could be taken from ebay for example

Pictures are not that clear but was the downtube in these not “ribbed” towards the BB?

Whole message corepondence:

My message July 4th:
Hi,
How much is shipping to Lenart, Slovenia?
Is the crank 52/36?
Crank length?
Cassette 28/11 ?
Can you check the exact dimensions of the frame?
https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/ewEAAOSw ... l1200.webp
Thank you

His reply July 10th:
Hello yes as you say
I can ship it to you for the same price

My reply July 11th:
OK thank you.
Please send a photo of your frame serial number or a photo of your invoice.
I see that payment via Paypal is possible.

Me again July 14th:
Do you want to sell the bicycle?

Me again July 17th:
I am a serious buyer. Of course I expect everything to be fine with the frame, shimano groupset and mavic wheels. As I have already written, I would make the payment via Paypal.

His reply July 22nd:
Sorry but I had notifications disabled
I can send you a photo of the chassis number, I remove the last 3 digits for security reasons
Let me know

My reply:
Ok, I partially understand your concern about security. Partly not, because I don't know what to do with the serial number alone, other than checking if the frame is an original Pinarello.
But then how do I verify the authenticity of the frame?
Best regards

He:
Okay I'll send it to you tomorrow

Myself:
OK thank you
Verification through the website requires the following photos:
- Serial number photo (under bottom bracket)
- Left and right photo frame
- Detailed photos of the whole bike (bottom bracket, steering bearing, etc.)

https://pinarello.com/europe/it/faqs
(see below 1.)

I will also be contacting Pinarello's Slovenian supplier (Ljubljana, Slovenia) on Monday to confirm the authenticity of the frame. I hope they confirm me on the same day.

Best regards

What do you guys think?
