Love the bike, hopefully it will get fixed.

Edited since this thread ended up having nothing to do with my topic.

Looks cosmetic only. But in the end still take it to your cannondale dealer to have it checked out. If they deem it cracked i suppose its under warranty. Dont see how you could damage that under normal riding conditions.

Yes, it seems like a cosmetic paint crack only.

I've just recieved my 2013 evo duraace HM version, and there were also some minor paint defects and imperfections.
It's obvious that, Cannondale should take more care of their paint workmanship! Especially considering these ultra high price tags.

That looks like paint damage only

In order to get that bright green color, many layers of paint need to be added. When a brake is added and puts pressure on the paint and often ends up cracking it. A torque wrench isn't going to fix this from happening - if your frame is warantied I will be surprised.

I'd defn be taking that back - that's far from cosmetic, and a brake potentially pulling out of it's mount is the last thing you wanna be dealing with when you bootin' along

I would not be so sure it is only cosmetic. Like the previous poster stated - there must have been a decent amount of twisting on the brake mount to cause the paint to crack like in the picture. I would make certain the Cannondale Rep take a look at the frame. Good Luck

Is is possible you over torqued it? If you did would they still replace it?

What torque wrench did you use? One of the Effete Mariposas?

Why are some so quick to be worred about the use of a torque wrench.....the damage doesn't appear to be in the linear plane of force from the bolt/nut....it seems to me to be due to (1) a recessed nut that has WAY too much interference with the inner diameter of the bridge, or (2) rotational torque from the caliper as it is applying braking force.....NO?

I'm sorry, but this speculation is retarded. None of us know if it is cosmetic or structural. My guess is that it's just the paint flaking off. no biggie.

You have a 12month cosmetic warranty and a lifetime structural warranty on your frame.

Take it to your dealer, who will be able to have a proper look and send it through to Cannondale's warranty dept. Your dealer will also have little glass vials of touch up paint if it is deemed to be cosmetic and you don't want to pay ~$150-250 for a frame swap.

If you don't want to leave the comfort of your keyboard, or if the damage is your fault, you can purchase genuine touch up paint from cannondaleexperts.com for, like, $8.

I'd just call your bike shop and ask if you can have some touch up paint and explain the flaking paint. IME storming in and screaming "EXPLODING CARBON...CATASTROPHIC FAILURE...WARRANTY...BLOODY MURDER" doesn't get the best response.

Nice bike, btw. any upgrades planned soon?
