That was my second post. This is my third. Long story. I was commiserating with the comment made by the OP, not knocking it. Better that you don't know the history. Anyways, I am busy researching articles via Google in .pdf from 1974 magazines and a MTB forum circa 2009 on lightening components. I'll post up when I have ruined or broken something.

It will hopefully be height adjustable (slightly) but the saddle won't be able to move.... I'm working on a mold at the moment...

May be a stupid question, but if this is a purpose-built hill climber why not ditch one brake? Rear + lots of cable or front + brake lever?

Being an addict rider who likes light bits, strip the paint of that bad boy and drop 50< grams off the thing! I LOVE IT THOUGH!

I thought that the pics. were part of the topic...Show me your tuning.
Almost every part on that bike was made from scratch or seriously tuned.
If you go back and look closely at the pics. You will see a custom chainring
34T of 7075 alum.that has been turned and milled without CNC. To look more like a 52T.
What you don't see are chainring bolts and an S-works spider. Because
the chainring is 0 bcd. It is the spider.
What you also won't see is that the crank spindles had a tungsten disufide coating
on them from Champion bearings, CA. to work with along with the turcite BB bearings.
I wasn't happy with how it worked out so I bored out the frame a bit which had already
had the BB milled narrower from BB86 to BB30 width there wasn't too much meat left to bore
so it was done off center and then made some plugs that created a mold to build an epoxy
shoulder for the 42x30mm hybrid ceramic bearings.
What you also can't see is that all the steel hardware to join the 2 spindle halves
have been replaced with 7075 hardware, including boring/tapping the spindles and
a hollow 7075 allen bolt made from scratch(round bar) Total weight 360 grams.

Uh, er, is it OK to come out ?

I had considered going naked or bare as a frame weight thing. Have you done any work to arrive at that 50 grams or is that an educated guess ? Are carbon coatings or paints inherently different mass wise than those used on aluminum ?

I stripped my addict frame and took 53 grams off the frame (size 52) and 19 grams off the fork.

I would assume alloy would have a different number of layers of paint on the fame, but whether it is less or more I couldn't say I know...

P.s. those weights include new stickers and clear coating.
