What lightweight 38mm or 50mm carbon wheel?

Looking for the possibility of saving for some new wheels but not sure which direction to look. I'd really like to get a very light wheelset. I like the look of a 38mm or a 50mm but seems like each 50mm wheelset I look at is upwards of 1450g or more. I'd like to get 1300g or less. I have a budget of $1000 (USD). My boyds I currently have are aluminum 30mm clinchers and weigh in at 1480g. I'd like at least a 38mm carbon wheel.

Go with the Boyds again. Really happy with their product and support. I damaged a wheel in a car accident, and the replacement cost less than I could have gotten a lower quality chinese wheel, and the wheel was back in a week. The new brake track is great as well.

Not sure if you're looking for tubular or clincher but my favorite wheels are the Reynolds DV46 UL T. They're 46mm rim and come in around 1150g. Also super stiff, I could put a little flex into my old set of Zip 404s and get a little brake rub but the Reynolds are great.

I'm looking for a clincher. The boyd 38mm clincher comes in 1380g. Just not sure if it is justifiable for me to spend the money. my alloy vitesse wheels are 1480g. So 8mm of profile and only 100g. Doesn't seem worth the $1050.00

Is this the same Boyd wheels that are rebadged chinese/taiwanese rims and bitex hubs?. It is your choice if you pay $450 extra for the 'Handbuilt in the USA' sticker and local support, it could be worth it for some.

Otherwise, my original recommendation to the OP stands, read the forum for reviews.

Exactly. I have bought a 50mm tubular wheel from china as an experiment, too. I got the wheel for $200 + $45 shipping. It was heavy, and not great as far as rim and spokes. The Boyds were $400, and I have already had one replaced for half that. So overall costs are less.
