All,

I cannot remove this FSA compression plug. It has a single screw through top cap to compress the bearings. The plug only has an set for the metric screw. It does have any slot for any size metric Allen ... I tried.

Please advise.

Remove fork from frame. Spray solvent/lube over plug. Leave for 24 hrs. Get a bolt the same thread size as the top cap bolt but longer, place largish washer around head of bolt. Loosely thread bolt into plug (not so far as to expand plug). Heat top part of steerer with heat gun/hairdryer. Pull on bolt. If doesn't budge, invert fork, support by crown and tap on underside of washer to drive bolt and plug from steerer. If all else fails either try and drill it out or use a drift to hammer plug further down steerer so you can insert new one above.

Cola may work as solvent/unseize fluid......

Isn't that the type where the centre part of the plug is a wedge and just needs a tap with a mallet (with the bolt in situ) to release it?

Yes, all you need to do is tap the center part. It's conical in shape and expands the outer portion when the bolt is tightened.
