saw at bikerumor that there is a new 105 groupset, wanted to share with you :D
the new 105 looks very similar to ultegra 6800.
I ride the 5700 10 speed system and thought about going 11 speed with the 6800 but now I dont think that it worth it, only a couple of grams difrent, functionality they look the same and cheeper :-)... I think it will be the best system for any one who dont have a sponser...

It's in black, while Ultegra only in grey :-)

seems expensive, in France and Germany a 6800 group can be found at around 650 Euros, sometimes less

I sometimes look at the prices of shimano stuff at rosebikes.de and wonder, how can they give stuff so cheap.. :\

Because ordering this 105 gruppo from them would be a deal to make for anyone who's looking for something nice and cheap.

Also, I'd be interested in the weights..

cause I'd have some catching up to do compared to Athena-Centaur. And when will campag release a new Veloce-Centaur gruppo? Or re-introduce Mirage to counter-balance the lower end sh gruops?

The pendulum seems to swing towards the Japanese brand once more.

Yes!
Although my 105 group is now obsolete, it is awesome that Shimano trickled teflon coated cables, 11-speed, 4 arm cranks and sil-tec chain from Ultegra.
MSRP is 850$ IIRC but it will be way cheaper online.
Your move, SRAM and Campy. Rival 22? Veloce 11?

Rose bikes can do them so cheaply because they are selling OEM groupsets.

Example, Merlin and Ribble often sell Shimano groupsets cheaper than shops can get at cost from Madison.

Actually centaur is so similar to athena in a lot of parts (crankset, ergopowers, front derry) that I'd say the biggest difference is in the number of cogs. So updating the 2 lowest campy gruppos to11 would mean that Campy will have Centaur and Athena virtually identical. Though they're from the same breed, as I recall the gruppo was originally called athena at the end of the 90ies, then renamed daytona and then renamed centaur, later campy re-introduced athena above the centaur. So, they could well as merge them again . ..

I still wonder what will SRAM and Campy act as a response.

Furthermore, when will shimano introduce tiagra 4700, which, I think will be very-very similar to the current 5700 105 gruppo.

I was hoping there would be a triple option for this group, as I wanted to upgrade GF's bike. Later maybe.

I'll be needing new training wheels soon enough, the cost of campag 11 speed cassettes means I'll probably end up going for shimano and a 105 cassette but running campag 11 speed everything else.
It doesn't make sense to have a £80 cassette the cheapest possible option.

I don't believe that there will be a huge price difference between 6800 and 5800. So most people will go for 6800 and only 5800 shifters for hydraulic brakes.

Whenever I ordered groupset items from Rose, they arrived in retail packaging.
And fwiw, Rose is far from cheap, unless there's a sale on.

(for cheap groupsets look no further than Hopman)

What I find intriguing is that Shimano re-introduced the directional chain for the 5800 group. I would like to know why.

The big thing in my opinion is the mechancial shifters with hydraulic brake cylinders. Ok it's not strictly a 105 product but it's first mover points for Shimano. I would expect to see these on many many cross bikes come the Autumn

9000 and 6800 chains are not directional. The 5800 is though and I wonder if Shimano will be releasing 9001 and 6801 chains.
