Wow. As I was looking over my CAAD9 and the prospects of murdering it out even more,
I grew discouraged at the thought of my never being able to get the cassette to cooperate
with the rest of the drivetrain.

Yes, the derailleurs and shifters being Dura Ace 7800 are silver,
but they are a toned down silver that doesn't stick out much.
(the thoughts of going SRAM Red Black creep in sometimes)
A black KMC Chain is in the works to be installed as well.

The cassette however is a big honkin' slab of metal.
Then, I saw this!

Is anybody here using Miche products (especially cassettes) mixed with Shimano bits?

I have Praxis Clover Standard Chainrings which are doing a beautiful job with the Dura Ace 7801 Chain.
I was planning on going with a Sram Red Black Cassette to drop 80g off of the Ultegra 6600 Cassette
I'm currently using along with the mentioned Black KMC X10SL Chain to save another 40g. The Miche
Supertype Cassette should give about the same weight savings as the Sram Red Black Cassette.

Of course, I want to avoid ruining this perfect combination in performance I have now.
I am hoping that the KMC will live up to it's reputation of being as smooth or better than Shimano.
And, it be nice to know if Miche is a brand I could trust.

I'm not familiar with that particular model Miche cassette but the brand has performed to mixed reviews here and elsewhere. However, if you buy this, please post a review since it looks good to me, too!

I'm going to go for it.
I'll report with my findings.
It probably won't be until next month though.

Anyone have any live experience with the Miche Supertype 11sp Cassette yet?

They make it in 11-27 (no need to butcher 2 Campa cassettes) so if it last a season
and shift well it would be a given lightweight mountain cassette.

used to have an old 8 speed miche cassette, and it's shifting was OK but that was it. Ripped several teeth of the cogs. This was quite an old model though so i can't speek for new ones, might of improved the strength ?? and it was also pretty heavy.

Thanks.

I'm itching to buy the Supertype and I've read that Miche has a mixed reputation.
I'm hoping the Supertype will provide Dura-Ace/Red-like performance.

If it's not a worthy upgrade, then I'll end up going with Dura-Ace or SRAM Red Black.

I acquired a miche alloy cassette when i first went to campag.
Shifting was cack, and gears jumped everywhere...

Personally i wouldnt bother going there.

Supertype is supposed to be the best of the Miche line.

We need someone to try it and report back!

Yeah, really.
We need a guinea pig.
I'm in for a $10. contribution toward the purchase of one so that it can be reviewed.
Come on! It's beautiful! Someone buy one and let us know how it rolls!

I just got a 11-27 Supertype.

It is light and well made. So far I have only tested it on the trainer and it shifts fine (like original)
Kind of hard to judge the performance indoor but so far so god!
I was a bit surprised over how well designed/engineered it is.

In another month we (the cassette and myself...) go to the mountains and I intend to use it in everyday
use.
Hopefully it will last for awhile too.

Thanks!

I just picked up a Dura-Ace 7800 12-23 for $109./shippped. Had to do it.
But I'm looking forward to your review when you've put some serious miles on it.

I just ordered one too. I'm using it for my second wheelset, which will see fewer miles than my main wheelset. Have to admit I didn't order it because of the weight, mostly because it is significantly less expensive than another Super Record cassette.

where are you guys finding these, I'd love to slap one on a backup set of wheels for my 11sp Super Record setup and see how they do!
