I have a SRAM Quarq mounted to an old-style S900 GXP crank. It recently broke, stripped threads inside the end of the spindle. I have a BB30 bike and I'm looking to upgrade. As far as I can tell, I could buy a new S900 BB30 crank plus a new Red BB30 crank. I would use the non-drive Red crank and spindle with the drive side of the S900. Thoughts? Is this setup possible? Anyone want to estimate the weight of that system?
Let's talk about the future and the SRAM Quarq. Will SRAM, or anyone else, ever produce a lightweight crank compatible with the SRAM Quarq? If SRAM does, will it work with my Quarq or only the slightly rotated unit on the new "Red Quarq?" Should I just get out get out of the SRAM game and get a Cannondale unit? That would be the lightest, albeit expensive, option.
