Canyon cannot fill orders from within Europe, so made the call to stop supplying to Australia and try to better service their core market.
Then why ship to Taiwan, India, Indonesia, Malaysia Japan etc. ?

Where did you get that info from mate?
Other forums posing that same dilemma with Canyon got a different response from Canyon, relating to insurance, not fulfilling of orders..
Edit : found th his on bna..

Dear Lachlan,
thank you for your e-mail and your interest.
We are very sorry but it is true: At the moment, we do not ship to U.S. and Australia.
The problem are proceedings with insurance companys, different than the German or
European insurances.
We will tell you when this problem is solved and hope this will not last to long
anymore.

Came from within the industry.
If you read the thread, doesn't seem like we are any closer to being able to purchase them.
Not sure of the demand for some of those countries.
Otherwise others might have more favourable exchange rates, as when they dropped Australia ours was terrible if you were in the EU. So why not drop a country you're not making as much from (and could have insurance issues, which I've not heard of before) in favour of others that have been exchange and possibly more favourable shipping.
Either way, cannot not see them opening up shipping any time soon.

If you wanted one that bad you could always use a freight forwarding company

To a certain extent, but you also knock off 19% VAT from the price.
Great bikes but I wouldn't buy one again unless I lived in Europe.
Warranty process is too much of a hassle (from experience)
They are still much cheaper than the equivalent bike from other high end manufacturers
Exchange rates only affect the customer.

Of course
Still, looking at their stock levels, what it costs to ship here as well as what I was told I cannot see them opening their route back to Australia any time soon.
Plus, like you said, returns process is a nightmare.
I live in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. You can avoid tax if you purchase a complete bike; so it's kind of a bargain really after you deduct the 19% VAT.
Buying parts, on the other hand, is a nightmare. You might be taxed up until 25% (depending who is the Custom officer handling your shipment, if you're lucky, you'll get 10%)
Having said that, I've only seen one Canyon (Ultimate AL) from where I live..

So much hate here.. Who hurt you??
hello guys
Finally got my first road bike! And it's a canyon! And it's awesome!!
But as I don't understand much about road bikes geometry I trusted the frame size recommended by canyon PPS system and the bike feels a little too small for me
The lady at the service centre is not helping much and she'll only be available for contact in 5 days! wtf???!
Well I just need to ask if you have any experience exchanging a canyon bike for a different size or model.
How is it processed? Do we have to pay anything if the bike was ridden?
Do we have to wait a lot? (I already waited 4 months for this incorrectly suggested bike size) I don't want to wait another 4...
Looking at the delivery times for new ordered bikes I could only get the bike in mid august... oh no
