Long awaited Dura Ace 9000 C24 wheels - first look and feel
by qeaou » Tue Sep 18, 2012 5:30 pm
The long awaited line of Dura Ace 9000 came out,
Here is a first "touch and feel" of the C24 Wheels:
The wheels are inconspicuous but impressive. Dura Ace lost the "red" color. All black and white now.
The carbon alloy has an interesting look up close
10 speed cassete installed on the freehub capable of 11 speed with the spacer (quite sizable)
Beautiful Dura Ace skewers
Looking forward to trying them out,
there was a bit of mystery about what the wheels look like in real life,
so here you go.
Overall, the feel incredibly sturdy (before road-testing) and are yet incredibly light (1364g i think)

Why have a poll for a wheelset almost no-one here will have ridden?
Better not to dumb down?
Look similar to the previous C24s. How do they differ, oh, except the loss of red

Weren't the previous generations assembled there? I'll have to check mine.
First post in thread reads like an advertisement, from a very recent joiner of WWs.

all of shimano's wheels are built there. shimano built a factory there just for that. all the rims are made there. and i believe all the hubs, except for dura ace and xtr.

I own the previous 7900 version and they do differ. I doubt the rim itself has changed but there are visible differences. 1. All new design of the front hub. 2. Possibly a modified or all new rear hub that now will accept 11sp cassettes. 3. New skewers and hopefully lighter.
Some useful information!

Relax, it's not an ad.
I just waited for those for a while, wanted to share, wtf?

Pleased you removed the misguided poll.
Er ... they're a new model of clincher very similar to the previous two models (identical rim I think). Most of us here have nicer wheels already.

That's only fair.
These wheels are not the top shelf.
I should have re-phrased the main thread to,
best allrounders in the $1000 category.
Unless someone knows better ones in that mark?
Also, I am curious,
what kind of wheels you have in mind, lighter stiffer, more area etc?
examples ?
cheers
