I recall a thread that had the exact bolt types that were needed for each component, so tuning would be easier. I can't find it though and I'm sure it's outdated anyways.

Does anyone know the bolt sizes for today's groups? I'd especially be interested in the campy SR 11. I think I read that the SR already uses aluminum bolts. Is this true ?

I think that most of the top tier groups today are using the lightest bolts possible.

The F&N save 18g over stock DA7900.

And as long as I don't see the Schmolke bolts on a stock groupset, you ain't got the lightest yet.

Some of that is still correct, but some has changed as well.

It was mentioned that Kcnc make a bolt kit, but that's not correct, they make some pulley wheel bolts, and some bottle cage bolts that can be used for mounting front derailleurs, but other than that they don't make any others.

Tiso makes some kits, but they aren't complete. The derailleur kits for example don't include barrel adjusters or limit screws or any of the front derailleur parts.

XX makes some kits too, they are pretty complete (the best kits we've seen up until now). However they use bolts from different sources so the ano isn't always consistent. They are also pretty expensive.

It was also mentioned that most derailleurs are using the lightest bolts already. Again not necessarily the case. With the FnN samples that arrived we did some comparing and found the following changes.

7900, Savings 18grams.
105, Savings 24grams.
Campag10, Savings, 17 grams
CampagSR11, Savings, 14grams
Sram Red, Savings, 6 grams.
Sram Force, Savings 16 grams.

You could go lighter by mixing in the Schmolke bolts, but honestly they aren't very good in most places. On a derailleur about the only place I'd consider them is the pinch bolt and limit screws. (Note, they are quite good as bottle cage bolts and topcap bolts though.)

You can also get more savings by changing pulley wheels.

So are the bolt details in this thread still the correct ones to get to do it yourself for Campag Record or am I better off forking out for a Far Near kit - even though I don't need the pulley wheels or bolts as I've got after market there already?

If not, has anyone got an up to date list of do it yourself bolts to get and from where? Comparing the below measures to somewhere like Jersey cycles and none of the sizes seem to match up unless I'm reading it all wrong

Can somebody clarify if these kits (e.g. xx) are titanium bolts or al?

Seeing that Ti is heavier then AL we can safely assume that the kits are AL.

Sorry, I was side tracked by the OP saying he thought that SR 11 were already AL, (and therfore wrongly presumed he may be chasing Ti bolt kits, Being a beginner WW and sick also probably doesn't help.

Side question: are they any bolts you would not tune based purely on safety? I have rarely seen anyone talking about AL stem bolts, I assume for good reason.
