We are talking Time Impact carbon with titanium axles.

I am guessing I might have broken a pedal axle, but how do you know if you have? Does the pedal fall apart at some point? I am about to dismantle the crankset to rule out any problems there.

If I do a hand/wobble check off the bike everything seems normal, but riding over a road defect and I get a 'click' as if something is wrong. It's as if my cleat clicks into place, but my cleats and shoes are fine.

Thanks in advance for any help.

if the pedal axle was broken, the pedal would be in your hand, not on the crank.
the pedal can develop play between itself and its bearings. the bearings can also be allowed to shift slightly within the body. i would also check the hinge pin, springs, all the little screws holding the top decks and the wire piece near the back...
and you say your cleats are fine, but did you check the screws holding the brass part to the plastic part?

Do you mean RXS or Impact? The Impact didn't come in carbon...

+1

How do you know it is the pedal or cleat interface that is actually creaking?

Have you tried another set of pedals to see if the the sound still appears. It is possible that creak is coming from BB or other area as well.
