I'm just building a Litespeed L1r as a race frame, was interested in it for the bb386 bottom bracket, the frame is about 800gbp.

I just stumbled across this new frame by the German brand Quantec: http://quantec.ccmsport.de/index.php?id=66 Looks pretty sweet IMHO. Tapered head tube, internal cable routing for mechanical and electronic. 469 € for the frame without a fork.

And Pro-Lite has updated their Cuneo with a tapered head tube for 2013: http://www.pro-lite.net/road-frames/cuneo-gp#page

By the way, who bought the last Pro-Lite Cuneo for 130 GBP from Chain Reaction Cycles? That was supposed to be mine >:| ;-)

Allez OSBB. Its knocking on the door of the best available, at a fraction of the cost.

I raced a 2012 Allez OSBB and didn't have any complaints. You can occasionally find frames cheap on eBay and they're a lot hardier than CAADs - my buddy crashed his CAAD10 and managed to bend the down tube. Not saying that couldn't happen on an Allez, but they're a lot cheaper to replace since you seem to be budget minded.

Thought I'd give this a bump. I'm considering a 2008 BMC roadracer sl01 (used), Velocite Selene (new) or Pro-Lite Cuneo (non GP, new).

BMC is the heaviest, Pro-Lite the lightest frame but Velocite the lightest overall package (assuming Bora fork weight is accurrate).

Really torn between the 3 of them. Can't really get the Allez or the CAAD to fall into my budget which I'm actually thankful about (being torn between 5 frames would suck). Has anyone got a horror story with one of these bikes so I can strike them off my list?

Kinesis Aethein. Lovely frame. Light and very stiff. Cheaper than caad or canyon.

Same question....I'm shopping the closeouts, looking for something <1000g and <$1000, or thereabouts or a complete for <$2500.

I generally ride XS or 48-50cm frames.

Leaders so far are:
Ridley Helium
2008 Scott Addict R4 - anybody got a frame weight for this?
2013 Giant TCR Advanced

Any other ideas? PM links if necessary. Thanks.

@istigatrice, go with the Selene. I own two of them. They are bombproof, stiff, and fast. I ride mine with tubulars and the ride is very comfortable.

My 2008 Scott Addict R1 56cm frame is 872g. I imagine a 48 or 50cm R4 would be comparable or in the same range, <900g.

So it looks like specialized no longer has the basic allez frameset available. S-works allez frameset is the only option. That or tear down the cheapest build which is $770

^ Is that for 2015? That is a bit disappointing if true.
