hi everybody,
i have recently bought some ceramicspeed bearings for my lightweight standard III wheels and i am having problems trying to get the front axle out, i have tried hitting it with a rubber mallet but it isn't moving and i am scared to hit it any harder for fear of breaking the wheel, i have taken the wheel into my lbs but they do not want to touch it for the same reason. has anybody changed the bearings on a lw front wheel? any advice would be most welcome.
many thanks.

STOP.

First, what are you thinking here?
Cermicspeed bearings are not necessarily an upgrade, don't you think Lightweight would have included them in $5000 wheels if they mattered?
Don't try to re-invent the wheel, you are not going to improve it.

Second, are you familiar with Lightweights? The rear hub is a DT Swiss internally and easily messed with.
The front hubs are not for you to touch. They go back to Lightweight for messing with.
I have I think heard of very select shops like Roue Artisenales or maybe Fairwheel messing with a LW front hub, but almost never.

Finally, here is a link to a thread where this was already covered last year:
