I need to give an opinion, my training partner and friend bought 2 of them. He used them just one day, why? Lucky enough to have them filled with anti-puncture liquid, he noted various punctures that he can solve just pumping again a bit, but once in home, he realized he has 14!! puncture marks all around the 2 tubs.

Note that the perceived punctures were not in the same place, and I have no punctures in the route.

I have 2 of them unglued, now i don't know what to do, I don't want to sell them after seeing that bad performance, I think i'll buy some Tufo tape to wrap them and make a nice gift for my worst enemy


Otherway, Durano's seem to be a good, pricey, choice in Schwalbe

Maybe I should have mentioned it; these babies do not come with an anti-puncture belt.
That said, I do not puncture them any more or less than anything else out there.

The other side of the medal is that these are smooth to the point you're wondering what they would have been if like they'd come with a latex inner tube.

IOW, if you're riding in areas where anti-puncture protection is an absolute necessity, let these pass. I'll buy them.

Are these Tufo type construction/made by Tufo? The descrption says they have an integral innertube?

Two month ago I bought 5 of those, in the first weekend I flat 4 of them.
I go back to the regular training I used before and the life change.

I didn’t notice any added value from this tier.
Conti-GatorSkin, or the Vitoria\Bontrager are the best training tubular for me.

I’m running only tubular, and pass more then 2000 mile a month, so maybe my needs are deferent.

How do the Milano and Montello compare to a Vittoria Corsa CR?

As many others, I appreciated the liveliness of the milano tubular, but also found them impractical for training. According to schwalbe, the milano tubular tire is renamed lugano for 2013 and now comes equipped with a kevlarbelt breaker. "Classic" milano is not part of the new line-up.

I have high hopes for this tire-- has anyone perhaps tried it?

That's rather odd as the Montello is actually a Milano with anti-puncture belt (hence the difference in weight).
I agree with you on the Milano as a mere training tyre, it is actually too "good" for that purpose even though Schwalbe views it as such.

AFAIK there already exists a Lugano tyre, a clincher no less. Entry level one.

Don't you just love Schwalbe's intro on the Milano:

Racing cycle purists prefer Tubs.

I did not know this. My retailer told me that the primary difference between the Montello and Milano was in the rubber; Milano using silica rubber whereas the Montello had natural and cheaper compound. Will have to wait and see what the new sticker will say, i guess.

Hi,

That's correct: Milano uses a silica charged compound whereas the Montello receives a more common, cheaper one called T45 (whatever that is).

Silica (as is Carbon Black) is said to reduce rolling resistance and improve grip.
Even though the kevlar based belts (and in particular the liquid crystal ones ( a la Conti's Vectran which Schwalbe is trying to duplicate) are among the best they're bound to up the rolling resistance somewhat losing some of the Milano's fabulous "touch" with the road.

I'd rather they'd improve the finish of the canvas instead as it tends to unravel a bit. A coat of latex would cure it easy....
