Dura Ace to KMC: Any problems caused to cassette?

Title said it all. My buddy said that once i get a cassette "broke in" to a certain chain I should keep using that type of chain. I want to try a KMC but just wanted to double check. It seems kind of far fetched but just thought i'd run it buy..Thanks!

cassettes and chains should in theory be changed together, that being said, I don't do that cause you can get twice the mileage from a cassette as a chain.

a chain and cassette do wear together. But as for using different brands of chains it does not matter.

You could mount a cassette and use a Shimano chain, then Sram, then KMC and still it wouldn't matter. If your cassette is significantly worn, it will skip with a new chain regarless of brand.

Im running KMC X-10 and DA7800 rear mech on my mtb.

works just fine.
