Hi All,

When I try to manually spin my crankset (chain off etc.) it does not spin like some of the Youtube videos.

It is fairly new (say 3 months old) and a good snug fit with the Rotor crankset. But it is creaking a bit under load (I should pull out and put loctite 609 in there - but waiting for bearing extractor)

This is my bike: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mUsFf4Qrqqo

Other examples are here : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_UTvr1WcOT4 (posted by HawkracingUSA - basically an ad - but impressive)
and here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cK4Xe278Yss (stock Red external BB)

Do I have a problem and can I solve it or should I just replace with stock/aftermarket/ceramic? Do you have any recommendations

With thanks

Drew

Mines about the same. It's just because the Shimano BB's are made to be long lasting and need no servicing, so the seals have a lot of friction. As Shimano is one of the biggest player in cycling industry, they surely know how to make such free spinning BB's. One of the reasons they aren't offering them, is that its just not worth the marginal gain vs the price.

Interestingly, HawkRacing bb's are not that expensive, as those "performance" BB's tend to be, and I actually would give it them a try.
