I had this crankset installed about 2 months ago, bought it from a friend as a take off and everything was gravy. Today, I was looking over my bike and noticed that some of the clearcoat flaked off the spider. I have not crashed on it and it's just been through normal use. Should I be concerned about this? Here's a picture

I wouldn't personally worry about that. Looks to be a nick in the clear coat more than anything

looks like something that might have happened if somebody leant their bike against yours and their pedal knocked your crank.

Watch it and if it develops a crack then worry.

Misleading thread title. Your crank isn't cracked, it has a clear coat on it, and some of it chipped off...big deal, cosmetic.

Not cracked. Its a light chip. If you see hairlines coming out of it then yeah its cracking but I doubt it with such a light cosmetic issue.
