Chew through as in the bearings? Could have been set too tight

Maybe. The bearings creek. It is difficult to set the torque on the end-cap of the crank. Any suggestions?

Is the BB shell parallel? Many frames don't come with the shell accurately machined causing premature BB failure.

If your shell is alloy with no carbon covering the faces it can be checked/machined by a decent bike shop. Of course, some carbon frames can be damaged by this machining so take it to someone who knows what they're doing.

Are you one hundred percent sure the creak comes from your bottom bracket? With Canyon, usually creaks are coming from: dry quick releases, seatpost (remove, regrease, reinstall), saddle rails (add a little bit of oil). When nothing of this fixes the problem, reinstall bottom bracket with lots of assembly paste or grease.

Are the bearings on HollowTech2 setups particularly sensitive to the torque you place on the installation thumbwheel? Put my first set on a bike last week and it occurred to me that I had no idea whether I was doing it to spec or not.

It does not creak, but makes a grinding noise when pedalling.

Not the BB! Front wheel bearings are the suspect...

Same thing, you definitely set them too tight. Wore away at the bearing
