I was looking to buy a cannondale caad10 105 frameset (2012) but no shops are willing to sell the frameset alone. I contacted cannondale directly but no reply. I was wondering if anyone else had managed to get a brand new caad10 frameset (not second hand).

Thanks

My dealer couldn't get stock from Cannondale back in April and I was told to either buy a complete bike and tear it down or wait until year end.

I ended up buying a brand new frame from eBay.

I went to one local dealer 5 weeks ago and inquired, they called Cannondale and were told nothing was available for order in framesets for 2012 CAAD10. The dealer suggested I wait for the 2013 to roll out. You best bet is to find a high volume dealer or the regional Cannondale rep, they often have access to stuff that is not available through the normal channels.

Buy the complete 105 bike and sell the components. It's the quickest and easiest way of doing it.

Buying the 105 bike is indeed the quickest solution, since the framesets sold this year were the 105 colour schemes (i.e. BBQ and Liquigas.) Even supply of complete bikes is spotty these days, considering the transition to the 2013 model year is in progress.

However, you would be paying a significant premium since the parts on the 105 bike aren't worth much as new takeoff parts.

I bought a Supersix 105 for AU$2000 and sold everything other than the frame and forks for AU$500. Seemed OK to me.

Cheers for the replies.

I think I will buy the complete bike and keep most of the 105s, just sell the brakes, seatpost and saddle.

I am in the UK, did not realize this was an American forum. Would be looking for a 52/54cm frame though.

Ok, I rang some local bike shops and they said that cannondale only sell the evo as a frameset only in the UK but in the US they sell the caad10 and supersix 105 as frameset only. Maybe the best hope is to order from the states?

You can buy CAAD 10 framesets in France but doubt there is any stock left this late in the year.

I think they are about 900 Euro.
