Has anyone got any significant weight from their Look Keo Blades? I took a dremel to a set and thought I'd drop more weight but only got 2 grams off. What's the metal plate for. Is it necessary? When the cleat is engaged, it is never contacted it seems.

It's a wear plate that supports the cleat. The centre "button" compresses so the cleat will touch the plate.

Has anyone ever removed it? What would the result be?

its to make the pedals more durable..
I have some cheaper keo without this plate and as that area wears it probably promotes some up/down play?

Just picked mine up (third ride today).

Have not had the time nor the courage to find ways to tune 'em...

All I know is if you put the bike down sideways overcooking a turn you can remove a huge chunk of plastic from the outer bottom corner of the pedal and they still work..you may like to start there!

Gummy and Powerful Pete , go crazy on one pedal each and see how far you can get the weight down, if it all go's wrong you can then buy a new pair and share the cost .

I don't think there is too much excess on the pedal. I upgraded my Cromo Blades to Ti with the Ward spindles and got to 182g

Either your scale is off or you got a REALLY light set. Mine are already Ti. I've never seen a set that low.

My scale is accurate within 1g. I have verified it against the scale at my nearby post office.

I'm using the Ward Ti spindles. From what I have seen they are lighter than the Look Ti

Oh you have a different spindle.

Which spindle did you Purchase? I don't see a spindle specific for Look Keo pedals.
