Good Evening,

In the spirit of cheap-assed weightweenyism, and to showcase my skills as a turd-polisher par excellence, I give you the following photos detailing some recent tuning of the Campagnolo Veloce Skeleton brakes on my Raysport travel bike.

I love the looks of these brakes (and they only cost me $45), but they have rather gratuitous amounts of steel used in their hardware. For less than $10, a local machine shop turned some aluminium blanks for me that I used create replacement hardware using my sweat, lack of better judgement and various hand files.

The heavy steel cable clamps are gone, replaced by an aluminium barrel with an internal set screw to clamp the cable. the whole affair is located by the cable itself with a nylon bushing acting as a spacer.

Today I climbed and more importantly descended 8200' and the braking was completely non-eventful. I still have all my teeth and can say that the setup works fine.

Likewise the steel barrel adjusters were binned in favor of these hand sculpted beauties.

I'll rework the rear spring plate in alloy and find some titanium pivot bolts later when I tune the bolts on the rest of the bike.

I also made a set of bushings to fit Shimano/SRAM type brake holders on these calipers.

Wow! in the era of ready-to-buy WW bikes and componenys these hand made tuning bits are reason for appreciation and my respect.
Cheers
