I've been off my bike for 18 months following an accident (4 broken ribs)
Picked up the following bike yesterday... Link to components list for Scott Addict R1 2007
As I've been away from the world of ww's for a few years, Id find a few tips useful from members.
1st Sep - 9th Sep, I'm riding from Glasgow to Staines (UK) for Great Ormond Street Charity (its a london based childrens hospital)
Across a group of 50 riders we hope to raise £250k
Its 760 miles over 9 days and Ive got a budget of approx £2k to lighten my bike
pondering the benefits of a 50mm or 80mm wheelset and Zipp 404 and 808 firecrest and Mavic CXR80 and Mavic Cosmic Carbones have grabbed my eye
Id like something I can climb in, durable and fast. The 760 miles will be mainly flat with some hils.
Wheels need to be clincher for practical reasons.
Looking for tips on both wheelset and minor adjustments to the components on my bike
Ive got a Syntace F99 stem with Ti bolts that ought to shed a few grams from my old bike
Also got a set of Zero G Ti brakes too
Cables will be trimed too
thanks,
Tippster
