I have a nice rain bike with custom fenders that run under SRAM Force brake calipers. I have found that there is just not enough clearance and the fenders often pack up with leaves and road debris. Does anyone know of a brake caliper that has a bit more fender clearance and that can be fitted to a standard road bike? I am assuming that long-reach calipers wont work because the frame and fork are not designed for them--but perhaps I am mistaken . . .

eebrakes. they will often fit a 28 tire so a 23 and a fender should be no problem.

Are not the ee brakes the silly expensive option. How about different mudguards?

I have some simple SKS fenders and it looks like a bit of work with a dremel would make anything work perfectly. Just a thought

Are you certain that it is the brake that is the limiting factor? Normally it is the frame design that limits fender clearance.

Yeah, upon close inspection I think you are probably right. They are tight against the calipers, but even if I had long reach calipers it would still hit the fork in front and the seat-stay bridge in back. Looks like I may need to just cut them and install them on the outside rather than running them under. There are a couple of pics of my bike in Ira Ryan's photo gallery for road bikes if you want to see it.
