I had a chance to tour the Moots factory in Steamboat Springs, CO... What a great experience and a great bunch of people. If you're ever in the area they offer tours every week.

Their stuff is hand TIG welded?

Wow. Makes me think I should be welding my own frame. I would have figured they'd be machine welding the frames for consistency.

Machine welding is quite expensive. I work for a scooter and BMX manufacturing company and we literally sell 100's of 1000's of scooters per year and we only just moved to machine welding. It's far more precise, but cost goes way up.

Mig robots, sure ive worked with them, but tig robots ? Then imagine a robot that wil weld the frame in the sequence that moots use's for welding a frame.

In regards to welding the frame your self, have a look at their webside they do a web tour thro the workshop, their mainwelder has been there 10 years !!
