An annoying creak from a new centaur power torque chainset with associated ball ache tooling and stupid wave washers is leading me toward switching out the chainset only to Shimano Ultegra or DA, will there be any issues with compatibility re chain and cassette if I do this? anyone run similar?

On my Look381i since early April 2012: CX-70 46/36 cylcocross chainset with Athena levers & rear der, 02 Chorus 10spd front der, Chorus 11-23 cassette and KMC gold 11spd chain. No problems

Power torque need not creek. Mine does not.

Cheack the bearings are running smooth. Check for play in the crank arms. Replace bearings if necessary.
Face the BB sheel and tap the threads. Ensure cups are coppasliped and torqued to campag specs. Frame must within campag spec i.e shell width 67.2-68.8mm. Ensure the NDS crank bolt is tight. The special and expensive tools to remove the crank arm are a pain but is a beautiful crankset so I don't mind. Also I have not tried the Park tool power torque tools but I can atest to the quality of the more expensive Cyclus Power torque tools. These are brilliant.

Make sure you pedal threads are not dry the creak could be that.

Don't give up on campag the power torque system is quite good just not DIY freindly due to expensive service tools.
