Would you then need a spanner to open the skewer in the event of a puncture. How much does this spanner weigh if you have to carry it? No point in loosing weight in place to add it on in another.

I love the feel of ultra-light alu axle skewers during out of the saddle up hill 2000W sprints of my 100 kg body* and 5 kg bike - it feels solid ... or not.
* this is for a hypothetical 100 kg rider, as neither the body mass nor wattage are mine
yeah, but we weight our bikes, not whats in the back of our jerseys, right?
we're talking about an equally light tiny spanner. I personally carry an oldschool keychain with slots for maybe 5-8 keys - 3 occupied. That also carried my cards, id & cash. so for me, its not a big deal.
