Hi folks,

Now I've got myself a nice set of Campag Shamal Ultra wheels, I feel the weight of the cassette is letting them down a wee bit.
For cost reasons at the time, I just got the Centaur cassette which I think comes in around 300g(??) in its 13/29 version.

I've looked at KCNC etc and it seems if I want a light one, I have to have a 26 as my biggest sprocket.
Is this the case or have I missed other brands?
Do I just get the Record Titanium?

It has to be 10sp, silver and with a 29 to help with my knees.

I said it elsewhere here recently, but IMO the cassette is about the last place to loose weight on a bike. Stay with the Centaur & look elsewhere for weight savings.

I know what you're saying mate but my current set up is Campag Record or Super Record apart from a Centaur carbon chainset on a Giant TCR Advanced SL frame so not sure where I would go.
I know I'm on this website but I'm not a hardcore WW as in I'll stick to Campag rather than AX stuff etc.

I think you'll find that the Record cassette is only about 50 grams lighter than Centaur. The 29 is just big and heavy. I'd echo the thought that saving a few grams in the cassette isn't going to make a noticeable difference. As a fellow Campy user, I'd stick with Campy. I just don't trust those light cassettes. For a long time, I just used Chorus on all my Record bikes. Lasts longer, shifts just as well.

Looking at the Miche website, it appears they make 10 speed Campagnolo compatible cassettes with final cogs of 28 and 29. I get the impression you have to custom order these cassettes from the distributor. So finding one may be a challenge. They are light, around 150 grams.

Best advice I can give you is to buy the lightweight cassettes
That way you find out for yourself there's a reason C makes them the way they do.

I use aluminium Recon casette for dry races, Campa Record Steel/Ti for training/wet races and Campagnolo low end casette for training. Definitely Record shifts better than aluminium casette.
I'd say, put a Centaur casette on training wheels and get Record or KCNC Ti casette for racing.

The Miche 12-29 cassette is something I stock. It will be about the same weight as the Centaur cassette though.

What type of cyclist are you? If you are middle-aged, overweight and have bad knees are you expecting to find that an ultralight aluminium cassette makes you go like a teenager?

That's a bit nasty Valbrona. As an overweight middle-aged guy [myself] who likes his toys, why not?

I'm not middle aged or overweight. Had tendonitis in the past so try to help as best as I can.
Don't expect great things from a lighter cassette but I'm just looking at things I can change.

you may want to consider the Tiso campy compatible cassette.

The workmanship looks excellent.
