Thanks Boralb - scale pic, nice

I wonder how much heavier for a standard 130BCD?

:?

I couldn't find any real weight info before buying, so i just wanted to share it.
I've seen standart version on scale as 605g.

Cool, even more can be stripped out then with the different chainrings already mentioned.

Might have to get me a set then.

Best price I have seen is Aus $400 shipped (shipping was US$35) for a GXP version.

Anyone seen a better deal ?

By going with lighter rings on the Red you'll save an additional 50 g. This will put the Red at 472 g. which is very light. I have the GXP version of the new Red and I love it. I got it for less than $400 from a LBS.

I have Praxis on my Hollowgrams on my good bike. If I decide to go Exogram on that bike I would do so. The bike I am building now is my second bike for rain/winter etc. I may just leave the rings for now. Will still be lighter then my Hollowgrams with Praxis rings.

Ah - so let me help then!

Now you're going to need a BB.
Using HSC's BB you're looking at 80g (minus unnecessary plastic bit)
Using Reset Racing you're looking at 70g (again, minus the unnecessary stuff)

...

What are these BB's like for life/reliability compared to the SRAM units ?

I'm waiting for my hsc ceramic pressfit bb.
Declared as 57g on box (close to bb30 weights) and i'll give them a try. I don't know about their durability but at least they are 33g lighter and spin faster

I'm curious to try some Rotor Q rings. For those of you smarter than myself, do you suppose it would be possible with the exogram crank?

I have a SRAM S950 I know will work but I'd like to stick with the weight savings of the Exogram if I can.

I'll need GXP, so it'll be a bit heavier.

Pics on scales please when it arrives :D

it ought to work. Qrings have two crankarm pins, so are practically designed with hidden/non-hidden 5th bolts in mind.

Hi guys

Very interesting thread...

I have a couple of questions, that you might be able to answer.

Just bought the Canyon Aeroad CF with Di2... and have already made some upgrades, in order to lower the weight. Amongst other things I got rid of the heavy Ultegra crank, and bought a Rotor 3D and some Stronglight CT2 rings. It works flawless with the Di2 FD.

To keep the stealth look on the bike, I have decided to have the Rotor crank painted (or powdercoated) matte black. But reading this thread made me think, that I might pass that one on, and buy the new Red crank in stead. If I am going to costumize it, it doesn't make any difference whether it is Rotor or Sram.

Two questions:

- Will the BB30 crank fit the BB already fitted on my bike; it is a Shimano Press-Fit SM-BB91?
- Can I mount the Stronglight rings on the Red crank? (Much lighter than the Red rings AND able to cope with the force of the Di2 FD)

@Juggler - If you have a Shimano press fit frame, you'll need to get the GXP version as the spindle on the BB30 version is likely to be too short (like most real BB30 cranks).

Can a non-SRAM BB be used instead of the original GXP BB (BSA standard), and if so, would it be possible to shed some more weight there?

Yes.

Use any GXP compatible BB.
Reset Racing is the lightest (and a bit expensive)
HSC produces one, but it's rare.
My HSC set comes in at ~82g (cups, bearings & adapter)

Cheers Prend.

Wow, now I think i need it, that puts it right up there with the light aftermarket cranks.

Edit: Now I'm wondering if there are chances to use a custom Ti spindle with the GXP crank.

Hmm, I know it's sacrilege, but this set up would work with Praxis rings and Campag derailleurs with a KMC X10SL chain ok you think?
