Dear weight weenies,

I am vexed for choosing a new bike for race in coming season.
I am absolutely not a sprinter. So targeted the BMC race machine and Felt FC. I will apply the Sram Rival groupset on the bike for the rolling terrian race and circuitium race.
Anyone can untie my vexation?
Thank you.

Larry

1.) which fits better?

2.) which fits better?

3.) if you're not a sprinter, why is one of the two types of racing you'll be targeting crit's?

4.) sounds like you would benefit from a lighter bike and don't need a huge amount of stiffness, in which case (assuming both give an equally good fit) I would look at the one with the ultimately lower frame and fork weight. As the components can be gradually upgraded to lighter stuff.

i really enjoy my Race Machine. It's pretty freaking light for stock bike. i usually run a 303/404 mix and the bike is under 16 pounds with ultegra di2, pedals and cages. the ride is stiff but comfortable, tracks well and I feel really connected.

RM is a stiff frame - more of a sprinter frame. Team Machine or FC may be a better comparison for you.

Rubbish. I ride a Cervelo R3 with Sram Red and 101's. Mate has the same build on a RM, only difference is tyre, bartape and saddle choice. I've ridden his as we are almost identical for bike fit and the RM was softer in rear compliance than my R3 AND stiffer up front. Best of both worlds. 4 years of bike evolution I guess.

If it's good enough for a bike nazi like Cadel...

fwiw, everyone i talk to, people who have ridden both bikes (including the rep from BMC) says that the RM is a stiff bike more suited towards crits while the TM is an all day bike- it's supposed to have a more comfortable ride. having said that, the Tour magazine test said the opposite - that the RM was not overly stiff, and somewhat comfortable- go figure.

The Felt is the one to go with. Very rarely mentioned, but a damn great bike

Damned good. Sram Red and a decently light wheels will easily get you under UCI limit.

Some, yes.

Some of the Felt sponsored pros have the option of choosing one of the 5-6 Felt frames availalbe that will fit them.
Some choose the FC over the other options.

The Felts are definitely shorter up front, so the fit will be a bit different.

I honestly like both and would go based on fit. Both are stiff, decently light, look nice, although the BMC is sliiiiightly better for me.
Don't take me too seriously. The only person that doesn't hate Froome.
