I'm looking for a bombproof tubular wheelset that is still lightweight for racing in criteriuams and road races. I'm not sure about carbon rims because I couldn't affort to replace the rim if I broke it!

Anyway, I REALLY like the Velomax Easton Circuit II wheel. I want to stick with the Velomax hub and spoke design if possible.

Now I realize that the Tempest II aero alloy wheelset is already available in a clincher model, but I want it in a TUBULAR model....and not the Tempest II carbon. http://www.eastonbike.com/WHEELS/models/wheels_tempest_II.html is the Tempest II clincher, and http://www.eastonbike.com/WHEELS/models/wheels_tempest_IIc.html is the Tempest II carbon

Not that I wouldn't want a deep section, bombproof carbon tubular wheelset--but its a matter of cash!

So is the Tempest II available in an alloy tubular setup? I know that the Orion and Ascent Pro models are tubular, but I want a semi-aero rim.

Are there better, equally strong and light choices out there?

I'm confused, where did you get this info about the Orion and Ascent models being available in tubular??? There is certainly no suggestion of this on their website, the only wheelset listed as being available in tubular is the Tempest 2 Carbon. :? :?:

These are the wheels I'm talking about...but they seem to be from 2001 or so?

I'm confused now too....now that Easton owns Velomax, are the "Ascent Pro" tubular models still available? Or are only the Tempest II carbons?

Someone who has these wheels needs to help![/url]

Well I'm taking a guess but I think its pretty safe to say that they don't make it any more seen as it isn't on the website... I certainly haven't seen any pictures of it or anything.
