Hello all!
Starting the search for my disc commuter cyclocross bike and i need some feedback on rims. iʻm going to build up the wheels with novatech d711sb 24 hole. Iʻve been looking around, but the majority of the rims are heavy fixie rims. non-machined arenʻt really a necessity but theyʻll look much nicer. so any good lightweight non-machined rims (ideally that are inexpensive)?

Velocity makes non-machined. I have "Aero."

H Plus Son rims are machined, but anodized after machining. Anyhow, for 24 spokes you usually want the rim to have some beef?

Yeah, but i figured i might as well try to keep the weight low as the hubs arenʻt exactly light. Although i could go with 28.
and Clincher, the ambrosio nemesis seem nice but i cant see running tubs for commuting.

Up to now it has been MTB or Track with no tracts
Presume MTB are just too wide (29er), then its track
Since you are looking for track rims I wouldn't like your chances too much

Track bikes are not usually low count (... unless it is 0. 3 or 5!) or low weight. It just doesn't make sense to produce a low weight rim for the track, so I think you will need to look at hipster (cheap and heavy) or road (which will be machined) So maybe road with a constant anodised colour, as suggested

Apart from that maybe there are some funky stuff for the CX market now they can go with disks, but that will not fit the in-expensive - I suspect

Velocity B43, ticks the stiff and double heavy box, lots of drillings
Blunt SL, is reasonably light, wide (25) but high spoke count
There are a couple of other disc specific rims from Velocity, as well

I thought machined rims looked nicer and worked better, especially after a bit of use...

Saavedra Turbo rims are about the lightest non machined rims ever made (275 grams), but they are for tubular use only though
