Nylon bolt uses

I was wondering about the use of nylon bolts. I already use them for my bottle cages and limit screws. Are there any other safe uses for these. They are so light and cheap that I want to use them for more things. Would they be safe to use for brake mounting (cantilever as well as traditional road brakes)?

Where do you get nylon bolts?
I would love to get some.
Can they really hold a cage with a full water bottle?

I found mine on amazon. Search for
Nylon 6/6 Machine Screw, Pan Head, Phillips Drive, M5-0.8, 25mm Length (Pack of 100)

After cutting them down to about 1/2" (leaving an eight or so beyond inside of threads for a buffer in case they turn loose) they weigh .5 g each. 10g savings over steel for 4 bolts. They seem to hold fine...have been on a half a dozen rides and they have not came loose yet. I gingerly tightened them as i didn't want to sheer off the head or strip out the phillips. I used a black sharpie to color the heads so they don't stand out. I'm using generic ebay carbon cages (they look identical to the bontrager ones).

Yikes, Im not so sure the nylons are durable enough to stand up to full water bottles. I mean I know this is WW but...
How about at least one Al bolt per cage.

I used them to plug the rack mount holes on my Kona JTS.

Also most home improvement stores should have them in a few different sizes, Ace, lowes, Homedepot, ect.

So the chance of both snapping at the same time is minute....if one snaps I'll know, drink or dump the water and deal with it when I get home. I don't think it'll be an issue. Plus...just a water bottle and we are weight weenies, right? lol

Using for the water bottle - Can anyone feel, measure, or try to justify the performance gain over the greater risk......as they will eventually break - and likely when you least could afford it.

I'm a WW but won't go there with nylon "bolts" as they seem to be called.

i use them for:

-Bottle cage bolts
-BBcable guide
-F+R deraileur limitation bolts
-Brake shoe anti lose the brake pad bolt (unsure of the technical name)
-B tension bolt on my Sram red rear deraileur.

Thats about all that you can use them for. Saves good weight though :)
