I did the same thing, but also used the Spesh varus wedge in one shoe to even everything out after experiencing some foot edge pressure/pain at the end of Seagull Century.

I really like my Lake CX330 with the Boa system.
I have a wide foot/hi in step. These shoes have been great for me.
Spec. shoes also fit wider feet as well as the shimano brand.
Since riding with the BOA system I will not go back to straps. I also put in some insoles made for ski boots. They give great support to my arches.
