Wiggle currently has the vittoria evo cx and sc tire at 40% off making them around £50. I've never looked at tubs before so is this a good deal or are they often sold at this price or on offer? If it is I might buy a few

Second question. Which do I pick out of the two tyres, I will be using them for races and TTs. If its raining I'm prepared to use my training wheels but would like the tire to not be overly slippy if it rains out of nowhere or is only mildly damp

TTs aren't my main focus, and I'll only have one set of tubs so I'd rather get one of the road tires.

The prices are 46.19£ and 41.39£ so slightly lower than I stated above

I'd get the Evo Corsa SC, which is supposedly more predictable in the wet than the CX, and use my training wheels for training.

I picked two CX Tubs up from Wiggle for £44 each last week, which is about the price I pay elsewhere. Normally I wouldn't consider buying them from Wiggle.

It always amazes me how much tires cost there. For the UK, that is a good price.

CX are good for dry weather. Back 'in the day', we would run CX up-front and GC in the rear. The SC is the same (similar) tread pattern to the old CG. With your weather, that is the combination I would ride.

I just picked up a couple of the SC myself since the price shipped to the US was $65/tire. That is the lowest I've seen in quite some time. I have used the CX (290tpi and 320tpi versions) and now the newer SC, and I can say in my experience the SC is much improved in wet-weather handling.

The best price I've found Vittoria Corsa Evo CX 320tpi 23c tubulars was about $70 per.

That was on sale at PBK.

That is about the normal price though if I know my conversion estimates.

Use ribble or shinybikes. Far cheaper.

Check realcyclist.com for price comparison, although not sure if they ship outside US.

The prices aren't as good. For some reason Wiggle's prices shipped to the US are seemingly dropping again to where they were a few years ago. I just picked up a Campy Chorus cassette for $124. Tough to beat that. I don't know how their prices are for the folks overseas, but with free shipping and no VAT, there are some bargains.

Aren't Vittoria tyres generally more expensive in the US and Canada than in the UK?

If not, can you please post some links!

Do you really need to run latex tubes with these to get the most benefit, or can you get away with Butyl?
