Can I use any magnet with SRM fork mount speed sensor (wireless)? Magnet is magnet, right?

Not quite, I think you need to check the polarity.

any magnet, best is a small neodymium, you can get a pack with lots in for a few pounds/dollars/euros on ebay

i use a 5x5x2mm one stuck to the spoke, works fine

for instance...
