I hope some members with experience can confirm a question about swapping the cassette bodies on a Mavic Cosmic Carbone Ultimate.
The wheelset is a 2010 model, as far as I know.
It has a Shimano cassette body on there now and I would like to know if the standard Mavic FTS-L "ED10" (Campagnolo) is directly compatible.
Further, are there any other lighter cassette body options out there that are compatible and worth considering?
Again, the goal is to have a Campagnolo cassette body on there.

Further, can anyone tell me the differences between the Cosmic Carbone Ultimates from 2010 and 2012, if any?

Advice and guidance appreciated, as always.

They are swapable and they make a badass Ti one for it too. Not cheap but ~30-40 grams lighter than the stock steel one.

I recall that comment on the ti freehub body from Madcow over on FWB. Pretty funny - "Mavic forgot to tell anybody."
The 30 grams is tempting, but perhaps not worth the price or trouble to find one now.


Any comments on the differences between the 2010 model CCU wheels and the 2012 model? If any?

So, after many, many years hoping to coax our old forum member, FelixOR, back on the bike (still trying, but...) he decided to part out a few items and I procured his Mavic CCU wheelset. Thanks, Felix.

The production year appears to be 2011 and the set comes in at 1,176 grams without tubulars, cassette or skewers. They have minimal use and the bearings are all super smooth. I did clean the wheels of all the storage dust and cracked open the rear hub to swap it to a Campy cassette body. Could not locate a Ti cassette body in Campagnolo, only Shimano. Not sure Mavic ever produced a Ti Campy body.

I cleaned up the rear internals and applied some Extralite grease as well as some sewing machine oil at the o-ring / cassette body interface. The rear hub spins acceptably well now. I'll be mounting some older Veloflex Paris Roubaix tires on for now. Looking forward to testing.

I recall there was a thread about pro tuning of Mavic CCU rear hubs and despite searching cannot locate it.
Can anyone remember this thread or comments and point me in the right direction?

I have CCU, I switch more turns campy/shimano.

PinaRene, thanks for the link! I actually have the FTS-L Campy freehub body on the CCUs already, but a ceramic version would be interesting as the Mavic hubs are not the smoothest. I also spied some parts for an older set of AmClassic wheels, so much obliged.
