Hi All,

About to install dura-ace 11-25 cassette on a new set of Zipp Firecrest 404 (beyond black) wheels.
Usually I would use a thin spacer between the hub and the cassette. However I believe that the hub that comes with new 404's is specifically 10-speed thus not requiring the spacer.

Can anyone please confirm if the spacer is required? ( The shimano instructions stipulates the use of spacer on a 9-speed freehub body). However I think that new zipps come with 10-speed hub body.

Thanks

can't see it being shimano 10-speed only as that would prevent use of sram cassettes wouldn't it?

thanks sungod.
That implies that the freehub is your standard 8/9/10 speed and hence requires usual 1mm spacer?
I've identified the hub as 188.

thanks sungod.
If I understand zipp tech doco's correctly, the 188 free hub that comes on 2012 404's is designed for 10 speed cassettes and requires no spacer. So I am still little confused.

Has anyone installed shimano cassette on new set of zipps?

Thanks

Yes, I run a dura ace 10 speed cassette on my 188 hub. sungod is correct, you will need to install the spacer.

Install it without one if you like. Will be obvious if it's needed or not once you get the lockring on.
